Beast review - Loose Narration

With many postponements and with so much of expectations from the audience after watching the trailer, Thalapathy Vijay's latest movie " BEAST " is released in theatres today. Pooja Hegde is playing the female lead. It is directed by Nelson Dileep Kumar and the music by Anirudh. This movie is bankrolled by kalanithi maran. Let's see if the movie reached the expectations of the audience or not.

Story -
Terrorists take hostage around 150 people in the east coast mall, Chennai. They demand the release of their leader Umar Farooq, who was captured by Ex-Raw agent Veera Raghavan(Vijay). Unexpectedly, Vijay is also in the mall. How he will rescue the hostages? That forms the rest of the story.

Thumbs Ups -
Vijay had performed good and it is a tailor-made role for him. His styling is also done well.
Supporting actors like pooja hedge, yogi babu and VTV Ganesh did their parts well.
Special mention for VTV Ganesh as he stands out for the comic part.
Coming to the action parts, they are over the top. It's a bit too much for general audiences. But, fans may accept them.
The background score by Anirudh is excellent. He saved the audience from getting bored, with his background score.

Thumbs down -
Director Nelson Dileep Kumar took a thin and good plot. But he failed to execute it correctly. After watching the trailer, we may expect some good hostage scenes but, there are no scenes like that in the movie and there are no emotions too. Imagine, without a good hostage scene and emotional parts, how could it be a good hostage drama?
The comedy part is also not good. We may like it in parts.
Coming to pooja hegde, don't know why she was casted in this movie. Except for the two songs, she is nothing to do in a whole 2hr 40 mins movie. After completing the movie, the audience won't remember her existence in the movie. The climax part is silly.

Technical Aspects -
Anirudh is excellent with his background score. The cinematography by manoj paramahamsa is good and colourful. Halamithi habibo song is captured well. Editing is okay.

Verdict -
Beast remains as a passable one and it's only watchable for vijay fans. May be the result of the film will be good, If the director worked more on terrorists scenes and  hostage scenes.

Rating - 2.5/5
