‘Acharya’ is a commercial mass entertainer directed by ‘Koratala Siva’ and bankrolled by konidela production company and matinee entertainment. It is starring MegaStar Chiranjeevi in the lead role and Ram charan and pooja hegde in supporting roles. Music by Mani Sharma and cinematography by tirru. Although it has a low buzz it has huge expectations among mega fans. So, let's see whether it reached the expectations or not.Story -
Basava (Sonu Sood) who is a local Municipal chairman has plans to hand over dharmasthali(An ancient temple town in siddavaram forest) to corporate people for mining. Acharya(Chiranjeevi) steps in dharmasthali and starts to set things right. Who is Acharya? What is the connection between Siddha(RamCharan) and Acharya? That forms the rest of the story.
Thumbs ups -
Chiru - charan combo is a treat to watch on the big screen for mega fans and senior audiences. Both are done dazzlingly. Chiru's dialogue delivery and his screen presence are awesome. Ramcharan's sequence in the second half is good and pooja hegde is okay in her limits. The ‘temple town Dharmasthali’ sets are designed and they are shown beautifully by tirru. Fight masters Ram - Laxman choreographed well and among all songs, banjara stands at the top.
Thumbs down - Firstly, it is not koratala Siva's movie. Because there is no single thing to show his mark when compared to his previous works. Except for Chiranjeevi and an item song, there is nothing in the first half. No entertainment, and slow scenes. Fans put hopes with ram charan's entry at the interval for a good second half compared to the first. But those hopes are watered-down quickly. We can count the positives in the movie very quickly as there are only a few (two or three).
Technical Aspects -
Production values are top-notch and the temple town dharmasthali is shown colourfully by tirru. Music composed by mani sharma is okay. Fights by Ram - Laxman are good and those are one of the saviours of the movie.
Verdict -
Finally, Acharya is an outdated movie. Except for the chiru-charan combo, banjara song and fights there is nothing to watch in the theatre.
Rating - 2.25/5
