Vikram review - CinemyTalkies

Lokesh kanagarajan's latest movie "Vikram" dropped today in theatres. The film features "Kamal Hassan" as "Vikram", "Fahad" as "Amar", "Vijay Sethupathi" as "Santhanam" and "Suriya" in a surprise role. It is bankrolled by Kamal Hassan and R.Mahendran. Music is given by Anirudh Ravichandran. This film got so much because of the actor, director and also after 4 years Kamal Hassan did one of the main roles in this Vikram movie. The trailer received huge applause. Let's see whether the movie reached the hype or not.
Vikram review

Story -
A container of raw cocaine went mission in Chennai. That container belongs to "Santhanam" (Vijay Sethupathi) and he went crazy after that robbery. An undercover cop "Amar" (Faahad) dives into action to solve this case. During the process, he finds out that these killings and robbery are linked to a drunken man "Karnan" (Kamal Hassan). Who is karnan? How was he linked to those killings and robbery? What is his backstory? These form the rest of the story.

Thumbs Ups -
It's purely lokesh kanagarajan's style and he delivered a solid work. The treatment he had given is good. He had given the complete details during the character's establishment. After four years fans witnessed Kamal Hassan in an action avatar and they love him in it. Though he doesn't have many scenes in the first half, he has action-packed scenes in the second half and he did those scenes perfectly.
Faahad did an amazing performance as an undercover cop and the way he showed emotions is great and got the appreciation from the audience.
Coming to Vijay Sethupathi, the way he showed the transition from being a normal man to a beast and his mannerism, body language and his screen presence is a treat to watch. His entry is too good. And Anirudh's background score is excellent in the entire movie.
Suriya's little cameo is also a major plus for this movie. The way director connected this movie to one of the previous movies "Kaithi" is too good. We may expect a faceoff scene between Karthi and Suriya in"Kaithi-2".
Unlike in the recent multi starrer RRR, Lokesh kanagarajan given equal preference and importance to kamal, Faahad and Sethupathi.

Thumbs down -
Even though the film has engaging moments in the first half, the audience feels a bit slow in it but the BGM covers it up. The first half is full of Sethupathi and Faahad roles. We barely see Kamal Hassan in the first half. In the entire movie, kamal has fewer dialogues. It may disappoint his fans. The audience will completely understand the story in only the second half. Kamal's telugu dialogue delivery is not so good and not so bad.

Technical Aspects -
Director lokesh deserves applause from the audience for his work. The production values and design are top-notch. The camera work is too good, especially for those visuals. Anirudh's background score is another major asset of this film. Action scenes are top-notch, especially the face-off scenes. Dialogues are good and so is editing.
Verdict -
Vikram is a commercial mass action entertainer with a bit slow first half and an action-packed second half. Another worth watching movie this weekend and it's enjoyable.
Rating - 3.75/5
