Adipurush is an indian historical film based on the epic ramayana written by valmiki. The film starring PRABHAS, KRITISANON, SAIF ALI KHAN, SUNNY SINGH and DEVDATTA G NAGE. It is directed by omraut and bank rolled by T-series and retrophiles. Cinematography by karthik palani. Despite of the negativity which was gained by earlier teaser, now it is turned to full of positivity by the songs and the two trailers and it is released today. Let's see whether that positivity remains same or not.
Story -
Adipurush starts from the banishing of lord rama (Ragav as PRABHAS) from his kingdom ayodhya for 14 years. Sita and sesh accompany lord rama in excile. One day,the demon king ravana abducts sita by diverting ram and seshu. Later, in search of sita, rama meets hanuman and sugreeva and rest of the movie is about how they fought back to bring back sita.

Very few actors in the current generation can pull off mythological or episodic roles with ease and conviction and Prabhas is one of them. The actor has unmatched aura and royalty, and if some other actor had played Lord Sri Ram, Adipurush could not have been better. The PAN-India star has wowed big time with his charisma, body language and dialogue delivery and he fits perfectly as Ram. The way the long dialogues are delivered, the screen presence is amazing.
sita character is definetly a challenge for heroines in current era. Especially ,for kriti who regularly works on glamorous roles. But she perfectly fitted as sita. Her divine looks and performance adds depth to the scenes. The marati actor devdatta nage excelled as hanuman. His bond,emotions during rama and hanuman scenes leaves in a mood. sunny singh and others are passable.
Apart from two lead cast(Prabhas and kriti), the films music and songs are another assets for the movie. Because of the music, many scenes gives you high and goosebumps.
In the whole movie, The films intoduction, Prabhas's intro, demon fights during the intro(Demons CGI is just decent), visuals, vali-sugreeva fight, hanuman scenes, some whistle and wowed scenes are mainly positive. The CG which includes the vanara sena is good because of the detailing involved in it. But it remains for some part only.

while the first half is pretty much engaging, the second half is failed to keep that momentum. Especially, the final battle took a lot of screentime, one gets exhausted after some point. Even though so much of work invovled in the final battle,one won't get the effectiveness of it.
The worst of the movie is saif ali khan as ravan. His funny walk, his dress looks as he participating in a fancy dress competition. He looked like clown in entire movie except for few mins in the end .The golden city of lanka shown like the dark cities where monsters and assassins takes place. Even people of lanka looked like the cursed people from pirates movies.
Director omraut took cinematic liberty by modernising most of the movie. For some part it is great and for some it looks awful especially, ravan,his people and his great dark kindom. You can't completely change the history(lanka) in the name of modernising.
one more drawback is the lipsink. Especially for ravan and seshu. Because of this, the impact of dialogues is lost. sad that makers said it is a bilingual film. but we can clearly saw the actors mouthing hindhi dialogues. Atleast,they could've taken more care for lead characters.
They reworked on VFX. compared to the teaser, the VFX is changed. but still it looked like half baked and it is unsatisfactory. considering the budget the whole is great but they could've taken more care to improve the VFX within the budget.
Technical Aspects -
The background score by sanchit balhara and Ankit balhara is magnificient. The telugu lyrics by ramajogayya sastry looked well with ajay-atul's music. Each and every song standsout and gives goosebumps. The dilogues in telugu written by bheem sreenivas are pretty good.
costumes are good except for ravan. Because it is looked like the actor participating in fancy dress.
Production design is good except for lanka. it may be liked by some but mostly it is awful. karthik palani's cinematography is pretty good. editor could have worked more.
coming to the director, the thought of modernising historical ramayan for coming generations is great. He handled first half very well but he should have taken more care in second half. everything worked out well except the VFX and funny ravan and lanka. he took cinematic liberty too much by modernising the historical facts.
Verdict -
On the whole, Adipurush is a modernised ramayana where most of benifits comes from prabhas,kritisanon,devadatta nage, music, songs and some good CG in some scenes.The 3D experience is impressive compared some hollywood movies. It'll be loved and liked by kids and families and some audience who are not CGI experts. If you could ignore the slow-paced fight sequence, Adipurush will be a pretty good watch.
Boxoffice numbers depends on the families.
